maintain the balance
i recently watched the substance and i’m beginning to see that the person you’ve wanted to be has always been inside you. (quite literally)
in my opinion, i’d say there’s at least 2 dominant parts of the human brain. the one that wants control and the one that doesn’t care what happens. they have one thing in common though, to be better. one can be better the other wants to be better. these two parts coexist — just the way Sue and Elisabeth did in the beginning — to maintain the balance.
these two parts are quite diverse but still a part of you. you can’t just throw one away hoping the other will survive. at the end of the day, they’re human and have needs. you need to make room for both to exist.
you can call them alter egos, even give them names. like the Yin and Yang; one is negative, the other is positive. they both coexist to have harmony. point is, don’t let one of them get you carried away with what ‘could’ be, unless you want to end up like Elisabeth and Sue. (i know they are the same person but you get the point)
i think awareness plays a huge role when it comes to identity. you’re able to alter what you don’t like and make life worth living.
